At the beginning of May, Faber Audiovisuals supplied an 857-square-metres-large LED video screen for the three reunion shows of Swedish House Mafia in the Tele 2 Arena in Stockholm.

The construction crew was given a mere 48 hours to complete this task. The main screen was 50.4 metres wide and 17 metres high.

Partner Universal Pixels from the United Kingdom provided the Media Servers and two Infiled 5 mm LED secondary screens, 102 m² in total.

Reunion Tour

For the first time since 2013, Swedish House Mafia was manning the turntables in its home country again, subsequent to a once-only reunion at the Ultra Festival in Miami. A total of 120,000 tickets were sold for the three concerts in the Swedish capital.

Following this overture, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell will go on a global tour until the end of September. After Stockholm, the group famous for hits like One and Don’t You Worry Child will perform in Mexico City, Seoul, Helsinki, and Berlin. Swedish House Mafia will conclude their tour on 20 September with an appearance at the Grand Prix in Singapore.

Logistical Challenge

“The logistical challenge was gargantuan,” said Steve Ackein, Head of Project Management Special Projects on behalf of Faber Audiovisuals. “Overall, we had to suspend 34 tons of LED equipment in the stadium. This required five full trailers.” The crew was able to start working at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday 30 April. Rehearsals were scheduled at 8:00 p.m. the next day.

“This required observing an extremely tight planning. Everything had to come together perfectly: from transport and unloading to connecting and testing.” The cooperation with our colleagues at Stageco was an exciting process.

Ackein: “The stage design was such that we had to coordinate our construction precisely. It was namely a floating design. We had to leave a space of 60 centimetres along the entire width of more than 19 metres. The structure then jutted out from this, with the counterweight for the 5-metres-protruding stage being set up backstage.
