From 11 October, 2017, the Spanish city of Alicante will host the start of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18. The race starts on 22 October and will take the seven teams 45,000 nautical miles around the world – across four oceans, touching six continents and 12 landmark Host Cities, and finishing at the end of June 2018 in The Hague. Faber Audiovisuals will be travelling around the world as official AV race supplier for the sailing competition to guarantee audiovisual perfection.
“Faber Audiovisuals will be travelling along with the Volvo Ocean Race supporting the Race Village Experience for eight months with two full video sets,” explains Faber’s Jeroen Jongenelen. “All materials are transported from location to location by boat, which means we require two sets that will be used in turn. While set 1 is being used in Alicante, set 2 will travel to Lisbon. Set 1 will then proceed to Cape Town, and so on and so forth for the duration of the race.”
The Village Experience serves as a central platform, where visitors can experience everything happening at sea on video screens first hand. The Race Experience will also allow them to look around the various compartments of a boat, and the equipment provided by Faber Audiovisuals will offer practical information, as well as information about the race’s sustainability ‘Turn the Tide on Plastic’ campaign. Jongenelen: “We arrange the event’s projections, LED displays, controls, lighting and sound.”
“The organisers of the Volvo Ocean Race selected Faber Audiovisuals for the versatility of our equipment and our know-how, which enables us to come up with ready-to-use solutions. Besides, we operate worldwide, which means we can easily support events on different continents.” Throughout the race, Faber Audiovisuals will travel all over the world with a three-man team. “Volvo Ocean Race is an elite sporting event that uses the whole world as its playing field, so we are incredibly excited to be involved in the event as one of their official suppliers.”
