Faber AV had the honour of being the Video supplier for the MTV EMA’s 2016 in Rotterdam.
The show was broadcasted live and reached an estimate of 785 million households worldwide.

Hosted by Bebe Rexha, the 2016 edition was packed with live performances of artists such as Kings Of Leon,  Green Day, Afrojack, Shawn Mendes, Bruno Mars The Weeknd and many more…

The set for the 2016 EMA’s was designed by Julio Himede, integrating approx. 2200 running meter of the new ROE Strip that was installed in and against a massive Layher construction, creating a mind-blowing piece of 3D video artwork. A stunning infinity effect was achieved, thanks to the clever use of mirrors in the stage floor and artist entrance.
For the Hi-res Video screens on stage, Faber supplied a total of 144m² MC-7, partly installed on Kinesys motors to enable a quick changeover or create an extra visual surprise during the performances.

In addition to that, 55m² of the Zircon Video floor was installed in the stage floor structure in front of the Glam Pit as well as 29m² in the Red Carpet.

The audience was able to experience close-ups from the show – no matter which angle you looked from to the Ahoy stage  – thanks to the four Glux 10mm delay screens, covering a total of over 60m².

OGLE HOG

In collaboration with Faber, Ogle Hog provided the content playback solution. Ogle Hog used a total of 5 x D3 4×4 Severs and an Encore2 for switching. These servers were divided between the complex components of this stage design. Two servers acted as main and back up for running the show, two servers were used for mapping the 2500 strips and the artist specials, whilst server number 5 acted as the understudy.

Ogle Hog used the servers to build an accurate 3D model of the structure and built in a series of pixel maps to work with Faber on site to take on the huge task of mapping the strips. In addition Ogle Hog used a catalyst to create a live Voice Over EQ effect that was put onto the strips during presenter announcements.
